We are nearing spring of 2011 and the styles could not be more intense this year. It seems to be that pastels are in and slim fit is all the rage. The trends for men’s fashion over the past year still includes the basic staples such as Chuck Taylor tennis shoes, Sperry’s, designer tees, and polo’s. However we will touch on some of the hotter trends that have started to frequently show up. Slim fit seems to have started to become quite popular over the last year and many high end companies are starting to do an exclusive slim fit line.

Popular publications such as GQ have made note of the fast rising popularity of European cut/slim fit clothes and how it is a must to start wearing more form fitting clothing. The new trend for suits this year has been the one button European fit with flat front pants.

Take a walk down any high end street and you will see top executives wearing the one button this year. Hotter climates have made many offices shy away from requiring formal wear which has put a strain on the men who still like the more professional look. That is why the top men’s publications are talking about the one button suit. The one button suit allows the man to wearing a breathable dress shirt while still looking formal and professional with a tailored jacket. It also allows for a little more versatility with ties and fun colours which allows for more catchy combinations.

Unfortunately, most high end one button suits can run at a cost of a few thousand dollars. However, there are options for someone looking to go after the one button suit while still keeping the cost down. I know someone who is offering a plethora of high end fitting suits for around $250 USD. I have personally found it to be one of the best deals on the net and wide range of colours offered has allowed me to spruce up my entire suit collection for under a few hundred dollars.

The same goes with neckties. Over the past few months many men have seen the comeback of the slim tie around the workplace of when out on the town. Tie styles have been changing frequently but it looks like the slim tie trend might be around for a good while. It is a solid retro look that is the perfect complement for a one button suit or a suit that has just been tailored. It is more subtle than a wide set tie and allows the guy to look trendy and classy.

Like the suit and the tie, the dress shirt has also seemed to head back into the retro spectrum. Recently, most men have been going for a thinner material and a no button collar. It gives a more “young guy” feel and has become the new in of 2011. As of right now, it looks like these trends will be here to stay.

Maternity fashion trends often take their cures from what celebrity mothers to be are wearing, and this season, there are some especially exciting trends being seen on the red carpet. You can always take these styles and add your own flair to them for a personalized touch. This season, maternity fashion trends are full of basic pieces, which will serve as the foundation for your stylish wardrobe. Feminine Dresses - To continue the trend of certain clothing that celebrates your pregnancy, you should look for dresses that feature feminine details, like flower prints, ruffles, or flowing designs. Because most women feel the most feminine when they are pregnant, this feeling can be expressed through their clothing. Rocker Chic - This particular trend replaces feminine dresses with boot cut and torn jeans, graphic print tees, boots, and tough cut leather jackets. 2010 has been an interesting year for fashion. This is the year where the press criticized celebrity baby Suri Cruise for wearing expensive designer kid’s clothing. This is the year where designer brands began to actively produce clothes for children-as there seems to be a market for expensive kid’s clothing. This is the year where children and adults alike explored the potentials of fashion from another culture-with Japanese and Korean fashion being in the forefront of the kid’s clothing and adult clothing fashion trends. And the year has not even ended!

So what can people expect for the year 2011? It’s not too early to tell: after all, designers and clothing companies release their clothing lines early. The likes of Ducci and even lesser known brands such as Ouef Eco have already shown their 2011 designs, among many others. What prominent trends can be seen from these early kid’s clothing releases?

Perhaps the most prominent trend to surge for the year 2011 is the theme of practical luxury or elegance for kid’s clothing. Again, this is a trend that probably stemmed from the “Suri Cruise effect,” wherein children want to wear designer clothes and parents want to dress their children in design brands. However, the clothing companies are gunning for something appropriate for kids despite its designer-luxury trappings. These designer kid’s clothing items will be comfortable and will steer away from styles that are inappropriate for the toddler and pre-teen set.

Of course, don’t expect these “practical luxuries” to be practically priced.

The eco-conscious theme will also become prominent in 2011, sipping its way from the adult runway to the kid’s clothing industry. Expect kid’s clothing pieces made from highly sustainable materials such as bamboo, organic cotton, and other similar fabrics. In short: frivolous is out, environmental trends are in.

Fashion pundits are already proclaiming the year 2011 as the year when the 80s rocker look returns. Expect this influence to become apparent in kid’s clothing-or at least in teen and pre-teen clothing. Don’t expect kid’s clothing to incorporate the leather and the highly sexualized look of 80s rock, although many will see the disgruntled, mixed and matched styles that the 80s made popular.

Because of this, Japanese-inspired kid’s clothing will become a bigger hit in 2011. This fashion aesthetic somewhat adheres to the concept of 80s fashion-clothes and accessories that shouldn’t match but go well together anyway, the somewhat mature Victorian-inspired dresses, the exotic Lolita-styled dresses made innocent and child-like (and therefore safe yet cute).

For girl’s fashion, expect dresses with flowing fabrics. This trend, which is more apparent in countries such as Australia and United Kingdom, is likely to be incorporated in kid’s clothing-a far cry from the current trend of flesh showing for women’s fashion. What not to expect in kid’s clothing in 2011: velvet. Many fashion journalists are already seeing velvet as a major material in some of the biggest designs for next year-but it’s unlikely that this material will enter the kid’s clothing scene.

It goes without saying that the year 2011 is still several months away-anything can happen in the world of kid’s clothing.
